Bio
Dany Garcia is an American entrepreneur, producer, and IFBB professional bodybuilder. She was born on 29 November 1968. In addition to being the CEO and chairperson of The Garcia Companies and TGC Management, Garcia founded GSTQ and is the founder of Project Rock Design at Under Teremana Tequila, Armour, VOSS, Athletic, Salt Atom Tickets, & Straw, Acorns, ZOA Energy, and the XFL.
She started her profession in finance with Merrill Lynch in 1992 after earning her business degree from the University of Miami. She started overseeing her ex-husband Dwayne Johnson’s career in 2008. Garcia co-founded 7 Bucks Productions in 2012; since then, she has directed several movies starring Johnson, including Baywatch, Hobbs and Shaw, Shazam, Jumanji (all 2017), Red Notice, Black Adam, and so many more.
History
Dany, whose parents immigrated from Cuba on 29 November 1968, was raised in Belleville, New Jersey. She has a sister as well as a brother. At the University of Miami, Dany double-majored in global finance and marketing. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the university in 1992. She founded her wealth management company in 2022, named JDM Partners LLC.
Dany was announced as an associate vice president at Merrill Lynch. However, she left her work in finance in 2008 to oversee Dwayne Johnson’s career and is now acting as his business manager.
Early career movies and TV shows: 2008–2016
Dany operated as executive producer of John Walter’s documentary Theater of War (2008) which starred Kevin Kline and Meryl Streep. Martin and Ellen’s holiday-themed romantic drama movie “Lovely, Still” (2008) came next. Dany made the documentary Racing Dreams the following year (2009). The movie received high marks from critics, winning Best Documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival (2009). Relying on 26 reviews, the movie has a 100% positive score on Rotten Tomatoes, with a weighted average of 7.38/10.
Dany and Johnson founded Seven Bucks Productions together in 2012. Following the reality television program The Hero, Dany created the action movie Snitch (2013), starring Dwayne and directed by Ric Waugh. Eventually, she launched The Garcia Companies and TGC Management, a worldwide brand creation and marketing firm representing stars Dwayne Johnson and Henry Cavill.
TNT placed an order for Wake Up Call, a reality television show that debuted in 2014 and continued into 2015, including eight hour-long episodes. The eight episodes of this show, referred to as The Hero’s “natural successor,” were all produced by Dany. Clash Of The Corps, a new reality TV program, debuted in 2016 on Fuse TV. Later, Dany and Johnson introduced Millennials to the Musical on a digital platform (2016).
Relationships
Garcia and Dwayne Johnson married on 3 May 1997, both undergraduates at the University of Miami. She joined the renowned Samoan family by wedding to Johnson. They have one kid. The couple revealed their amicable divorce on 1 June 2007.
Garcia is presently serving as Johnson’s worldwide strategy advisor after the divorce was finally formalized in May 2008. Bodybuilder Dave Rienzi, who serves as the Chief Health & Fitness Brand Officer for The Garcia Companies, proposed to Garcia in 2014. They have four dogs and live in Los Angeles and Orlando.
Hobbies and passions
Bodybuilder Garcia frequently attributes her tenacious approach to business to the sport. She entered her first competition in 2011, and in 2014, she obtained her IFBB Pro card. She was the first woman to be signed to the Weider roster in the history of the Women’s Physique Division.
Garcia is a member of numerous boards. She established the Beacon Experience in 2008 as a component of the national “I Have a Dream” foundation, which motivates at-risk kids to complete their education after high school. In the same year, she won a seat on the board of directors for Pediatrix Medical Group, Inc. Garcia is President of the University of Miami Alumni Association and a member of the Miami University Board of Trustees.
